When you critically examine the anatomy of the tongue, you will discover that it is an organ of the body without a bone. Out of about 70,000 muscles in the human body, the tongue is made up of eight: four intrinsic and four extrinsic muscles which include the Genioglossus, M.styloglossus, etcetera.
As small as the tongue is, it is capable of building and capable of destroying.
The book of James 3 vs 5-6 says, “Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire , a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.”
It is evident that the exploits of the tongue can be dangerous as harmless and little as it looks beneath the mouth. The tongue has been used to destroy a peaceful family. It has to be tamed. When a house wife cannot tame her tongue, she begins to say things that should be private, to her friends – who unknown to her may be her worse enemies wanting to snatch the husband from her. After successfully snatching the husband, she would begin to cause witches in her family without knowing that her tongues have pulled her down.
Verse eight of the same chapter says that no man has been able to tame the tongue. It is restless and filled with poison. The truth is that the tongue will align to your thoughts and to your deeds. A man who is not careful of what comes out from his mind to the mouth would fail the test of the tongue. Something ugly could have happened to me in school one day when I checked my test result and I wasn’t glad with my score. I was sad deep inside of me; I was tempted to speak evil of the lecturer in charge of that course. Few minutes later when I checked back, lo and behold the same lecturer was at my back, sitting down like a fellow student. My heart skipped me, because if I had joined the other people to say anything bad about him, then it would have been a different story for me.
Therefore, it is important to watch the things we say with our mouth; of how we use the tongue. In the other way, the tongue is used to bless. Make a good choice.
