The word of God in the book of Galatians 5 verse 22 and 23 talked about the fruits of the spirit as: Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance. Against such, bible says there is no law.
The litmus test that you belong and represent Jesus Christ can be revealed when you exhibit these characteristics that the scriptures enlisted. If you check through that particular chapter of the bible, you’ll notice that the fruits of the flesh are also enlisted. This shows that a man is either exhibiting one side, or the other.
In simple terms, let’s consider some of the fruits of the spirit:
LOVE: Love is the fulfillment of the law. Without love, there will be strives, worries, fears. A man that doesn’t love his neighbor will always hijack every opportunity to have fight with him or her. Such a man does not love; and is not exhibiting a vital part of the fruits of the spirit. No matter how devoted you are to the things of God, it is quite imperative that you love those around you; either they are believers or not. The reason why our Lord Jesus Christ came, died and resurrected for me and you is because of the deep love He has for us. 1st John 3 vs 18 also say that whosoever hates his brother is a murderer. People need your love.

Gentleness: Anyone who claims to have the spirit of God in him does not engage in strife. Gentleness is a state of being gentle. Gentleness comes with the ability to apply the wisdom of God to a tense situation. Even when people try to provoke anger our of you, there is need for you to be calm and handle the situation with the direction from God.

FAITH: Hebrews 11 expressly discussed on Faith. It is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. Faith is powerful isn’t it? There is a saying that we do not receive the full measure of our blessings because many believer lack faith. We often cannot hope in God for things that seem to be out of our reach; whereas God is saying I want to get you that car, that house, that soul, etcetera. Faith remains a vital fruit of the spirit that every believer have to embrace.

JOY: When considering faith, we could see that it is the evidence of things not seen. Joy is not necessarily ought to be evident only when good things happen to us. There are times that temptations, financial challenges, etcetera, comes our way; we are not expected to be bad, won out and sad. No. Bible says that count it all JOY when you meet trials. So as children of the most High God, we are expected to exhibit Joy in heart, on our faces, at every times. It is a way of showing faith in Christ that “It is well with my soul”

PEACE: If you check the life of Jesus Christ while on heart, you will discover that he went about doing things in peace. Even when He had to rebuke, there was abundant wisdom to apply in order to still be at peace with His people and environment. The word of God also directed us to ‘be at peace with all men.’ It is a command from God even as it is embedded inside our spirit man.

God bless us.
